The Rose Festival

The Rose Festival is becoming a central cultural and social event organised in spring, which, besides locals, attracts guests from all over Slovenia and abroad. Exhibitions, lectures, guided tours, a rose market, tastings, concerts and many other events, every year something new which makes the image and the popularity of the town of roses richer.

The Rose Festival takes place in the loveliest month of the year and it offers many delicious, scented and educational experiences to the visitors of Nova Gorica, the town of roses: organised guided tours of rose parks in the town and the unique collection of the bourbon rose (the rose of the 19th century) in Kostanjevica, exhibitions (of flowers, of stamps and paintings), presentations of books and tastings of dishes with roses and many more. At the rose market a visitor may buy roses and other rose-related products.

Organisers are responsible for culinary delights, professional lectures and for the selection of the most beautiful bourbon rose in the garden of the Kostanjevica Franciscan Monastery (where the Europe’s second largest collection of such roses is located). The prettiest rose garden of the town is announced and the owner of the best rose in private ownership is awarded.

There is a lot of entertainment at the concert, a joyous atmosphere, concerts and mostly a gathering of everybody who likes roses, the most beautiful of all flowers.
