The Zaloški bajer Pond was once an old riverbed of the Vipava River at Zalošče in the Vipava Valley. Because people made changes to the Vipava River and the Vipava Valley, such ponds are the only remaining sanctuaries for many types of plants and animals that were once found in the valley.
